Description: KMDP is implemented by SNV in partnership with various local and international stakeholders and collaborators including Perfometer. The general objective of the Kenya Market-led Dairy Programme will be to increase efficiency and competitiveness of the smallholder dairy value chain and to promote and facilitate innovation and address systemic issues in the sector.

About Kenya Market-led Dairy Programme (KMDP)

With the support and partnership of SNV, Perfometer strategically supports these co-operatives who in-turn focus on their own improving services and products to their members. Additionally, Perfometer has established medium-scale dairy farmers’ forum (MFF) in more than 10 counties (and counting) in Kenya. Each forum has 20 to 30 dairy farmers who more than 100 litres of milk per day. By design, these forums are geared to transfer knowledge and improve dairy farm operations in the groups, with the support of local and European dairy experts.

Kenya Rural Development Programme (KRDP)

Description: KRDP is funded by EU and implemented by German Agro Action (GAA), National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) and SNV in partnership with various local and international stakeholders and collaborators including Perfometer. The general objective of the Kenya Rural Development Programme will be to contribute to improved food security in Kenya. The project purpose is to increase productivity and efficiency of food systems in Kenya.

With the network of European Union, SNV, German Agro Action, NDMA and a network of collaborators and partners, Perfometer has been an implementing partner in developing a network of commercial fodder producers in Narok County by August 2015


East Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF)

Sector: Agricultural development

Description: EAFF is a non-political, non-profit and a democratic apex organization of all Framers of Eastern Africa. Its role is to voice legitimate concerns and interests of farmers of the region with the aim of enhancing regional cohesiveness and social-economic status of the farmers. Perfometer has over the years been involved in fodder planning and management, Dairy advisory services at the farmer and farmer organizations (in Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti) under the SFOAP program.

About Strengthening Farmer Organizations in Africa Program (SFOAP)

SFOAP is sponsored by European Union (EU) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), French Development Agency (AFD). The Strengthening Farmer Organizations in Africa Program (SFOAP) started in 2009 as a result of dialogue between African leaders of regional and national Farmer organizations and the European Commission EC as to find ways of increasing direct support in the EC programmes aimed at strengthening Farmer organizations capacities support.

The overall goal of the main phase of the SFOAP is to improve the livelihoods and food security situation of African smallholder farmers and rural producers. Its purpose is that Farmer organizations evolved into stable, performing, accountable organizations able to effectively represent their members and advice farmers in their farming enterprises.

Description: Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM) Rwanda tasked Perfometer to carry out a countrywide market study and value chain analysis of Cassava. The exercise involved local enumerators and investigated the producers, processors and the market in general. In just 6 months, Perfometer presented the Ministry with the report of set out deliverable.
